Ventured into China Town because a lot of people have said that they found the best Chinese food ever here. Anyway, they were right. We checked out the Magical Taste of China and it was unreal. The flavors were so delicious, the food came out fast and the waitress was super friendly! I also like the interior design, it gave it a modern feel. My husband and I definitely went over board ordering for the two of us, we didn't realize how large the portions were so a lot of it went uneaten but I wish we could transport this food home, it was so good!

Very good halal food , I recommend I visited Toronto from Quebec City , the best food I had in the city

It was truly a "magical" taste of China. We came here for dinner, and my sister and her partner told me it is one of their favourite places-they even have a membership card for this place! Their menu is big and extensive, but I love that each item has a picture so it's easy to see what the dish looks like. All the food ordered was delicious and very large portions - the food also arrived very quickly. The garlic moss lamb bucket rice is a must - the flavours is delicious and it's rare to find a restaurant dish with garlic scape in it. Their stir fried minced lamb with thin Chinese pancakes was delicious! The pancakes are very thin and translucent and sturdy. You definitely need to go for their skewers especially their lamb skewers. The lamb skewers were flavourful of cumin and tender. Their mixed vegetables had a variety of veggies with chestnuts. We even ended the dinner with some custard buns. Since the food has big portions, it's strongly recommended to come with a party of 4 or more just to experience and try a variety of food. Will definitely come back to try more food from their menu!

Visited last weekend for a casual dinner. The interior seemed different from the pictures I saw online. Nevertheless the food and service were good. We ordered a bunch of skewers from chicken aorta to grilled pineapple. The meat was generously seasoned and flavorful. Food came out quickly and service was decent. It's a small restaurant, so not ideal big parties, but we got a little spot in the back that fit our party of 8 (5 adults and 3 children) well

Looking for Chinese BBQ and found this restaurant in Chinatown. The restaurant located down stairs building. The Chinese name it western city restaurant. It is type of food from northern China. We start with BBQ stick with beef, lamb, stomach and more. Their marinate sauce deep into the meat. I love the BBQ during the winter time. We also got the Lamb pluck soup. This soup includes lamb meat, organ, intestines and more. This is very traditional soup.

When you're downtown with a group of friends, this place offers a great option that fits most needs. I'll start this review by pointing out a major point that you may be trying to confirm, yes this place is halal. A Chinese restaurant that offers all their dishes halal is perfect and has led to the end of all those difficult nights trying to find a spot that fits everybody's dietary restrictions. Living in Toronto, I have always had friends that follow the faith and require to eat strictly halal foods, so when this place was brought up in conversation, we were really excited to try it out. Being located near Spadina & Dundas, the street outside the restaurant is quite messy but upon entry the restaurant was very tidy and clean. Our group of four was sat at a pretty small table, and when our order came to the table it was proven just how small the table was cause we had trouble fitting everything. The service here was whatever, I think it could be more hospitable and welcoming. As for the food, my friend group loved it and argued what were the best dishes. During our visit we got various skewers (Chicken, Beef, and Lamb), General Tso chicken, Stir-Fried Spicy Beef, Xinjiang Style Fried Rice, and some dim-sum. Personally I felt the best dishes were the lamb skewers and the spicy beef, but my friends absolutely loved the General Tso's chicken and kept talking about it even after we left. Overall all the food was really good and surprised me because I went in with lower expectations than my friends. One thing I could say as a negative about the food is I feel the portion size is smaller when compared to various other Chinese restaurants, even those in the same area. Overall, Magical Taste of China is an excellent Halal Chinese restaurant that is wrapped in an aesthetically pleasing designed restaurant.

This was a good experience, but not amazing - more like a 3.5. We hadn't been to a restaurant for Chinese food for so long and our cravings were high. We'd read all the great things about the spicy cumin lamb skewers here and couldn't wait to try them. I was hankering for my favorite dish, Szhechuan boiled fish with peppercorns. We ordered those, plus the spicy shredded potato and the spicy green beans. It was kind of shocking when everything arrived about 3 minutes after we'd ordered. Even so, nothing was sizzling or steaming - but everything was sufficiently hot (except the potatoes, which are served cold). The beans were stellar and a generous portion. We found the lamb skewers good, but a little chewy and, honestly, a little too lean? I prefer having a little fat on my skewers for that crispy deliciousness. My big disappointment was the peppercorn fish. It just didn't have the spice level I'm used too - not enough peppercorns, perhaps, maybe also lacking some chili oil? It just tasted mildly spicy despite the dish being full of red chilis... the fish was a little lacklustre as well - didn't have that slighly crispy, salty peppery edge to it. We ate it all and had a satisfying meal... it just left me comparing to other places where I've had slightly better versions of the fish dish and skewers... and for a little less. It was a pretty expensive meal in all for 4 dishes, no drinks - around $85.
